A dealership near my hometown was the victim of a large scale theft, resulting in over $10,000 worth of wheels and tires stolen, and over $8,000 in vehicle damage. What the thieves didn't account for, however, was a regional police officer driving seeing them leave the dealership in a suspicious manner. After the officer saw the tires in the car, he attempted to pull the thieves over. This resulted in a high speed chase through two counties, reaching speeds of 80 mph. It was at this point that one thief started throwing the tires and wheels out of the vehicle. At times, the thieves were driving without headlights on down the wrong side of the road. The chase finally ended when the driver of the getaway vehicle crashed into a tree. One suspect is in custody, and the other has not been found.
